Concerned Clergy for Choice Lobby Day 2007
On May 2nd 2007, religious leaders from across New York meet with state legislators in support of comprehensive sex education for young people. Members from Concerned Clergy for Choice and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice advocated for the passage of the Healthy Teens Act, legislation which would provide much needed resources to fun age-appropriate, medically accurate sex education for our youth.
Clergy members were joined by The Reverend Penny Willis, director of the National Black Church Initiative headquartered in Washington, DC, to discuss comprehensive sex education programs and efforts by African-American clergy to ensure the health and well being of young people. Clergy met with Legislators from across the state, including the sponsors of the Healthy Teens Act, Senator George Winner and Assemblymember Richard N. Gottfried, as well as Senate Health Committee Chair Kemp Hannon.
